Jersey City is about to get a new biergarten and its grand opening promises to be an event to remember.

The Lutze Biergarten, named after Wilhelm Lutze — a Jersey City native born to German immigrants — will celebrate the city’s rich diversity and its history of accepting and welcoming new immigrants. The biergarten will open on Friday, May 5 — aka Cinco de Mayo — with a massive party complete with fireworks, live music, and over 100 vendors.

The outdoor biergarten is part of Mack-Cali Realty’s ongoing strategy to rebuild Jersey City’s waterfront. According to the biergarten’s website, they’ll be donating a substantial portion, if not all, of the biergarten’s profits to local charities that benefit Jersey City.

The Lutze Biergarten will be located at Harborside, 15 Second Street.
