**Jersey City officials have awarded a $40 million tax break to a new 17-story tower planned for the corner of Ninth Street and Marin Boulevard. The 397-unit building is being developed by KRE Group, which is behind other downtown complexes like 225 Grand and the new 3-tower project in Journal Square. Construction starts next month for an August 2017 completion date. —NJ.com

**Shah Taj, a Pakistani restaurant located on Grove Street opposite City Hall, got a nice shout out from Eater NY. “Vegetable samosas are a dollar apiece, and spicy ground meat chapli kebabs are $2.50; you can assemble a fine meal from just snacks.
