A user on JC List reports that Montclair’s Ani Ramen is looking to open a location in downtown Jersey City, possibly in the vacant space at 218 Newark Avenue (between Coles and First Street). A Montclair Dispatch story from October lends credibility to the JC List claim and states that the Jersey City Ani Ramen House will feature an outdoor patio and larger menu (than the Montclair location) with Japanese barbecue and a liquor license.

Owned by Luck Sarabhayavanija and his wife Anne Fernando, Ani Ramen Montclair got an exceptional review by the New York Times, which enjoyed all six of the restaurant’s ramen offerings and said it makes pork buns that top Momofuko’s. We’ve reached out to Ani Ramen for confirmation and will update this story when we hear back. —JC List, Montclair Dispatch

    • Yeah, it could be, but at least these will be somewhat spaced out. Plus, it sounds like Ani Ramen will serve more than just ramen (a good Japanese restaurant could be cool).
