Another popular Montclair restaurant is expanding to Jersey City. Uncle Momo, described as a casual Middle Eastern and French restaurant, is moving into the former Marco & Pepe spot at 289 Grove Street.

The BYOB restaurant will be downtown’s first bistro specializing in Lebanese-French cuisine.

Menu items at the Montclair location include a range of Middle Eastern food including Moujadara (green lentil & bulgur with caramelized onion), Lamb Pitza, Makanek (Lebanese sausage sauteed with pomegranate molasses), and Moussaka. A brunch menu also includes a variety of omelettes, crepes, and sandwiches.

In 2013, Uncle Momo won New Jersey Monthly’s Jersey Choice Award for best Middle Eastern/Turkish restaurant.

Workers were at the restaurant over the weekend and the new space is expected to open in the coming weeks. Uncle Momo has confirmed the news on its website.
