Neighborhood Events: Barcade Anniversary Party, Jersey City Obstacle Course Challenge

Monday: It’s Spa Week in New York and Jersey City and Serenity Day Spa is offering specials for your body and wallet.

Monday: Local juice business Squeeze’d will celebrate the official opening of its first juice bar at 300 Coles Street at 3:30 pm. Squeeze’d is also preparing to launch its first mobile juice truck.

Monday: Plant Nite makes its Jersey City debut tonight at O’Hara’s Downtown. Plant Nite is like a paint-n-sip class, but rather than work on a canvas, you’ll be planting and decorating a terrarium. The event starts at 7 pm and costs $45/pp (which covers the cost of the terrarium, rocks, moss, and more).

Tuesday: Marketplace JC is back at the Harborside Atrium showcasing a variety of locally made crafts, art, and food. Vendors include Outer Limits Hot Sauce, Taproot Organics, Myriad Mirage, and more. The market is held every Tuesday from 11am to 3pm.

Tuesday: It’s Kamayan night at Talde Jersey City. The Filipino food fest is an all you can eat family style buffet with lechon, salmon poke, wok-charred yuchoy, and more. Tickets are $75/pp.

Thursday: LSC After Dark is an after-hours party held every third Thursday at the Liberty Science Center. This week’s party will be dedicated to the bizarre and unreal. There will be cocktails, off-beat art, music, and the Jersey City Oddities Market. Tickets are $20/pp. (A $5 surcharge is added for tickets purchased at the door).

Thursday: Believe it or not, but it’s been 6 years since Barcade first opening in Jersey City. The craft beer and arcade bar will celebrate its 6-year anniversary with a special draft list featuring rare and vintage kegs, kitchen specials, and free swag for guests.

Saturday: The Jersey City Challenge is an urban obstacle course that’ll have you zipping, sliding, and jumping over 25 obstacles and challenges throughout a 3-mile course. The course will feature real police and taxi cars for runners to jump over, cargo nets, rope climb, walls, and more. Sound like your thing? Registration is open through Friday and general admission ranges from $74 to $89 per person (depending on which time you opt for).

Saturday: The Cliff is a new neighborhood cafe with a secluded backyard, sidewalk seating, and clean, delicious eats. Join them today as they celebrate their grand opening in Jersey City Heights from 8 am to 4 pm.

Saturday: Celebrate Earth Day with a 5K run through Liberty State Park. Admission is $25/pp. After the race/walk you can enjoy refreshments at the Earth Day Fair located in Liberty State Park.
