Neighborhood News: Jersey City Kickstarts Local Shopping with Free Parking, Annual Toy Drives in Downtown Area

**The city recently spearheaded a new “Shop Jersey City Buy Local” campaign. Although the campaign is meant to last throughout the year, the city is trying to incentivize holiday shoppers by offering two hours of free parking in select municipal lots when you shop local through December 31. **Smile Pre-School & Nursery is accepting donations for its holiday toy drive. The toys will be handed out during the Tree/Menorah Lighting at the Pedestrian Plaza on Thursday, December 8. Donations can be brought directly to the pre-school (273 First Street off Jersey Avenue) and should be appropriate for children under 12 years of age.
