Neighborhood News: Liberty Science Center to Build Nation’s Largest Planetarium, Rental Demand Soars at 70 Columbus

**Thanks to an unprecedented $5 million donation, the Liberty Science Center will soon house the largest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere. The center announced this week that it will use the funds from this record-breaking donation to revamp its IMAX dome, create a massive planetarium, and update the IMAX Dome theater from film to digital. The donation was made by philanthropist and Short Hills resident, Jennifer Chalsty. —NJ.com

**In a span of just four months, 70 Columbus has managed to lease 60% of its 545 luxury rentals, developers announced yesterday. The rapid demand has been attributed to the tower’s proximity to the PATH train, its unique design by Gwathmey, Siegel, Kaufman Architects, and its extensive amenities list. The tower represents the first stage in a three-phase development plan, which will include another similar tower (90 Columbus) and a 152-room Marriot Hotel, the latter of which will sit above the Grove street PATH entrance. —70 Columbus

**The fate of casino gambling in New Jersey will lie in the hands of NJ voters this November. Both houses of the state Legislature passed a resolution on Monday that will put a question on the November 8th ballot asking voters whether to approve two casinos in north Jersey. Proponents say north Jersey casinos would make New Jersey competitive in the northeast gaming market, whereas opposition leaders say it would decimate Atlantic City. Possible casino sites include the Meadowlands and Liberty State Park in Jersey City. —NJTVNews
