Neighborhood News: Peruvian Restaurant El Gordo Opens on Central Ave, Full Weekend PATH Service Returns

**A new Peruvian restaurant called El Gordo will open its doors to the public this Friday. Located at 291 Central Avenue, El Gordo will specialize in pollo a la brasa (rotisserrie chicken), ceviches, and other Peruvian cuisine. The restaurant originally started in Passaic and Paterson; however, this will be its first Jersey City-based location. El Gordo recently celebrated a private ribbon cutting last week and will be open for business as of this Friday. —El Gordo

**A door from the original WTC that connects the Chambers Street subway station to the WTC was put back to use earlier this week. The door is marked by lettering that reads “MATF 1” and “9 13” which at the time of the 9/11 attacks, let rescue workers know that the area had been searched for survivors. The New York Times calls this passage “the last extant remnant of the original World Trade Center.” —NYT
