New York’s Agozar Restaurant Will Open Casa Cubana on Grove Street

Fans of New York’s Agozar bistro will soon be able to get their Cuban fix right here in downtown.

The owners of the famed Lower East Side restaurant are opening a sister restaurant — Casa Cubana — in Jersey City. The new restaurant is scheduled to open in spring of 2018 and will be located at 363 Grove Street (just off First Street). The space is currently being revamped for their opening.

The family-owned Casa Cubana will focus on authentic Cuban cuisine, some of which they previewed at the All About Downtown Food Festival last weekend. That means you can expect Cuban staples like lechón, ropa vieja, tostones, and plenty of maduros.

A Lower East Side staple for 15 years, Agozar New York has an extensive vegetarian menu, although it’s uncertain if those veggie options — like the tofu picadillo — will make their way to Jersey City, though we certainly hope so.

At launch, Casa Cubana will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, and possibly a BYOB option. The owners also want to focus on the community — since the family is originally from New Jersey — and even tap into the old school Cuban vibe that was lost when La Conguita closed.

Casa Cubana is currently offering full drop-off catering services throughout all of Jersey City, New York, and surrounding areas. (You can check out their menu below). They’re also offering 20% off your first catering order.

You can follow Casa Cubana via their Instagram account for updates on their opening.
