Pokay Bowl Ramps Up Construction on Newark Avenue

After a streak of radio silence, management at Pokay Bowl has released new before-and-after photos of the interior of their forthcoming restaurant.

Pokay Bowl is a new poke restaurant opening at 283 Newark Avenue between Monmouth and Third Street. News of Pokay Bowl opening in the Village first broke in September, but the restaurant appeared to be quiet for most of the winter with no updates on construction.

Poke is of course one of the fastest growing food trends in the country. It’s a Hawaiian dish usually consisting of raw, cubed salmon or tuna served with a variety of seasonings/toppings. There are many variations from the classic, but generally the protein-packed bowls are simple and healthy.

Pokay Bowl is one of many new businesses that have moved into the Village. It joins Roflcopter, Casa Mona, FM Jersey City, and Black House Strength & Conditioning.

Pokay Bowl declined to comment on an opening date.
