A new store called Roflcopter Toys & Gifts is set to open soon at 298 Newark Avenue between Brunswick and Third Street. The storefront was previously home to Love, Liesel, which recently moved to 353 Grove Street. According to Roflcopter’s last Facebook post, the store is scheduled to soft open this summer and a grand opening is slated for October. The store describes itself as a “an eclectic selection of things that will make you LOL.” Roflcopter was also present at last year’s NY Comic Con. Although it currently has no active website, you can follow updates via its Facebook page.

As for the origin of the name, it turns out it’s not a Warcraft III reference, but instead short for “Rolling On Floor Laughing, Can’t Operate Properly Till Eyes Refocus.” Welcome to the neighborhood, Roflcopter! Roflcopter Toys & Gifts

  1. Just FYI, “Rolling On Floor Laughing, Can’t Operate Properly Till Eyes Refocus.” is a “backronym”. It was created just as a mashup between ROFL (rolling on floor laughing) and a helicopter. The whole “can’t operate properly till eyes refocus” was made up after the fact and honestly this is the first time I’ve ever heard it in the 13 years it’s been a meme.
