When: Monday to Friday from 4pm to 9pm; Saturday 11am to 9pm; Sunday 11am to 7pm
Where: 95 River Drive South
Feel the nip of the winter air as you glide through downtown’s only ice skating rink — Newport Skates. The outdoor rink is officially open 7 days a week. Admission is $7 and skate rentals cost an additional $6. (Newport residents with a valid ID receive a discount). Private lessons and season passes are also available.

When: Friday, December 15 from 5pm to 8pm; Saturday from 10am to 4pm
Where: 201 Montgomery Street
Wrap up your holiday shopping while enjoying some cocktails at Andco’s Holiday Sip & Shop Market. The 2-day market will include vendors like Hill & Velez, Karma Flowers, Pulled Together, and more.

What: Lip Sync Contest at Zeppelin Hall
When: Friday, December 15 at 11:59pm
Where: 88 Liberty View Drive
Think you got what it takes to deliver the best lip sync performance? Friday night Zeppelin Hall will host its Lip Sync Battle to determine who in Jersey City fakes it the best. The contest is no laughing matter — first prize gets $300 in cash.

What: Ugly Sweater Brunch at White Star Bar
When: Saturday, December 16 from 11am to 4pm
Where: 230 Brunswick Street
White Star Bar is giving your weekend brunch a unique twist. This year it’s hosting its first ever Ugly Sweater Brunch. There will be a holiday-themed playlist, holiday-themed cocktails, and of course, an awesome brunch menu to enjoy. Brunch starts at 11am and runs till 4pm at the Brunswick Street location.

What: 5th Annual Mayor’s Holiday Concert
When: Saturday, December 16 at 7pm
Where: Loew’s Theatre
Hosted by Mayor Steven Fulop, the 5th Annual Mayor’s Holiday Concert is a Jersey City tradition and features the Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea. Children’s gift donations will be accepted and are encouraged by all who are attending.

When: Saturday, December 16 at 10pm
Where: 755 Montgomery Street
Forget Santa Con. Don your most hideous holiday attire and head to McGinley Square Pub for their Ugly Sweater Party. There will be drinks, food, music, and a special prize for the ugliest sweater.

What: Stranger Things Costume Party at Transmission
When: Saturday, December 16 from 10pm to 3am
Where: 150 Bay Street
Dress up as your favorite Stranger Things character at Transmission’s Stranger Things-inspired 70s & 80s party. There will be live performances, free eggos, free Polaroids, and a $200 prize for the best costume of the night. (Bonus points to anyone who can pull off a demogorgon costume).
