The Weekender: Midnight Market’s First Dessert Festival, Battello Easter Sunday Specials

Kick off the weekend with downtown’s first food festival dedicated to all things dessert then the following morning burn those calories off with team Whealth as they run a 5K along the waterfront — we present our top picks for what to see, eat, and do in Jersey City this weekend.

When: Friday, April 14 from 6:30 pm to 11:55 pm

Indulge your sweet tooth at Jersey City‘s first dessert-focused food fest. The food extravaganza has 23 confirmed vendors include Baking Mama, The Guac Spot, The Belgian Plate by Waffle It & Co., Sugar Supply JC, and more. The bar will be run by GP’s Hamilton Park and Departed Soles Brewing Co. Tickets for the Foodie Hour (from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm) are $20/pp; otherwise, general admission is $5.50/pp (from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm).

What: Whealth 5K Harborside Run/Walk
When: Saturday, April 15 at 10 am
Where: Whealth Cafe at Harborside
Need to burn off some calories after Midnight Market? Start the weekend with a gorgeous 5K run (or walk) along the Jersey City waterfront, led by avid runners David Trotta of Whealth and Jesse Barton of CKO Kickboxing. The casual run is open to all fitness levels and is followed by a quick cool down/meditation session and a healthy meal at the Whealth Harborside Cafe.

What: Luna de Papel Easter Craft Workshop
When: Saturday, April 15 at 10 am
Where: Luna de Papel at 321 Communipaw Avenue
Luna de Papel — a new craft store for DIY art projects — is hosting its first holiday workshop this Saturday. The 2-hour workshop (for children ages 3 to 12) will involve decorating Easter egg ornaments, painting, and decorating ceramic bunnies, among other activities. Admission is $30.

Where: Battello at 502 Washington Boulevard
Battello is offering a variety of brunch and dinner options for the whole family on Easter Sunday. From 10:30 am to 3 pm you can opt for a buffet offered in the Battello Lounge ($49 per adult/$20 per child). Or gather the family for a three-course dinner with seatings from 5 pm to 9pm ($59 per adult/$29 per child).
