“Try This Now” puts the spotlight on a beverage, cocktail, appetizer, dessert, or meal I’ve recently had in downtown Jersey City that has surpassed all my expectations.
Although Honshu is known for its sushi, my favorite dish at the restaurant is the Kimchi Yaki Udon Noodles entree. Honshu has taken the traditional udon noodle and given it a fiery twist by mixing it with spicy kimchi. The dish is simple, but works really well. The noodles are stir fried and topped with seaweed and scallions. Upon adding the kimchi, the udon noodles take on a reddish-orange color with a spicy kick in each bite. Traditionally it’s served with pork, but you can also opt for a vegetarian version (as shown above).
