Weekend News: LGBT Pride Hits Newark Avenue, Exotic Cars at Liberty State Park

What: 15th Annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival
When: Friday, August 28th & Saturday, August 29th
Where: “Big Gay Cabaret” at Art House Productions, 136 Magnolia Ave (Friday). LGBT Festival at Pedestrian Plaza at Newark Avenue (all-day Saturday)
The 15th Annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival wraps up this weekend with a showing of “Big Gay Cabaret” at Art House Productions on Friday night (shows at 7pm and 10.30pm) and an all-day LGBT Pride Festival at the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza on Saturday. An after party will be held Saturday night at South House at 149 Newark Avenue from 8pm till 11pm.

 

What: Feed JC’s Dinner in the Park at Pershing Field
When: Saturday, August 29th from 5pm till 9pm
Where: Pershing Field Park
Feed JC is a collaboration between chefs, business owners, and ordinary Jersey City citizens looking to help feed the less fortunate. The organization’s monthly “Dinner in the Park” series highlights produce and family recipes from Jersey City’s six wards and their respective farmer’s markets. Dinner is held each month in a different park and in a different ward. This Saturday’s dinner will be held at Pershing Field Park. Dinner is prepared and served by JC youth in a work training program designed to help sharpen their food and hospitality skills. Tickets are $45 per person. Proceeds from the series are used to feed the city’s homeless population at Grace Van Vorst Church.

 

What: New York Harbor Exotic Car Event
When: Sunday, August 30th from 10am till 4pm
Where: Liberty State Park
Bentleys, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis will be on public display this Sunday at a fund-raising event to benefit the Women’s Health Center at Grove Street. Tickets for the rain-or-shine car show cost $25 for adults (children under 12 enter for free).

 

What: Summerfest Concert Series presents Urban Guerilla Orchestra (Summerfest PDF link)
When: Sunday, August 31st from 6pm till 8pm
Where: Liberty State Park North Field (near 9/11 Memorial)
