“As newcomers to the area, we can’t think of a better way to celebrate our debut than to support the Jersey City Free Public Library and aid their mission of providing free education and employment assistance, along with the other amazing resources, to the Jersey City community,” said Artichoke Pizza Jersey City franchisee, Leela Shanghvi. “We hope that our new neighbors will join our Grand Opening to, not only get a first taste of Artichoke Basille’s Pizza but, also directly support the library’s wonderful cause.”

The new Artichoke Pizza is located at 246 Bay Street along the Jersey City Pedestrian Plaza (between New Zion Nail Salon and Keyhole Bar). The pizzeria soft opened last weekend and has been doing a test run since then.

Founded in 2008 by cousins Francis Garcia and Sal Basille, Artichoke Pizza is renown for its unique pizzas. Toppings range from artichoke cream sauce and crab meat to more traditional favorites like pepperoni and meatball.

The Jersey City location measures 800 square feet and offers both dine-in and takeout. The interior features preserved brick walls from the 1880s as well as a New York-inspired interior consisting of an antique tin ceiling and mosaic floor tiles, much like the original Artichoke Pizza in the East Village.

As far as the menu, you’ll be able to order Artichoke’s authentic New York slices and eight different pies including the namesake Artichoke Pie, which is made with artichoke hearts, spinach, cream sauce, mozzarella, and pecorino romano cheese. Artichoke’s Jersey City storefront will also feature the Crab Pie (made with crab sauce and fresh mozzarella) and the Staten Island Pie (filled with meatballs, cooked tomato sauce, red onions, and ricotta) cheese. Other classics will include the Margherita, Pepperoni, and Meatball Pie.
