Summer’s last hurrah is here. (Well, unofficially at least). Check out the best events happening locally on this final week of August. (Looks like everything is happening on Thursday!)

In-Store highball class at Riverview Wine (Thursday)

Want to make your own cocktails at your next get together? Riverview Wine is hosting its first highball cocktail class tonight from 5pm to 7pm. The free class is hosted by Fever-Tree Mixers featuring GreenHook Gin, Hamilton 151 Rum, and Sweetdram.

Takeover Thursday at The Lutze (Thursday)

Tito’s Handmade Vodka and the Liberty Humane Society are taking over The Lutze. Bring your doggo for a night of al fresco drinking and canine socializing starting at 4pm. A percentage of proceeds will benefit the LHS.

Free Ghostbusters (1984) screening at Webb Park (Thursday)

The city’s Movies in the Park series comes to a close this week with the summer’s last  two outdoor screenings. Tonight you can watch the original Ghostbusters at Webb Park (264 Van Horne Street) starting at 8:30pm.

Halifax Fundraiser Dinner (Thursday)

Halifax Hoboken is hosting a special 4-course wine dinner/fundraiser to help an employee with his fight against cancer. All proceeds from the dinner will be donated to the employee. The menu includes whole roasted gulf shrimp, roasted bison striploin, and more. (The full menu is here). Tickets are $81/pp with tax and gratuity included.

Paella Festival at Surf City (Friday through Sep. 22)

Surf City is celebrating Spain’s national dish — the paella — with a limited-run menu that features 10 different styles of paellas. Dishes include a Lobster Paella, Chicken Paella, Vegetarian Paella, Calamari Paella, and a Fisherman Paella (topped with flounder/calamari/shrimp).

Free Labyrinth screening at Harsimus Cemetery (Friday)

Catch David Bowie in the 1986 classic, Labyrinth, tonight at the Harsimus Cemetery. This is the last free movie screening in the city’s Movies in the Park summer series. The movie starts at 8:30pm.
