Cellar 335 reopens today
Tiki bar and restaurant Cellar 335 will reopen Wednesday at 5pm for indoor and outdoor dining. A new menu will be posted on their Instagram feed prior to reopening. Cellar 335 closed its doors a few weeks ago to redecorate the dining room and make it safer for indoor dining.
CNN names Jersey City best city for Indian cuisine
This shouldn’t come as a surprise if you’ve lived in Jersey City the past few years, but CNN says Jersey City has the best Indian food in the United States. The story highlights neighborhood staples like Rasoi, Raaz, Partha Junction, and Egg Mania. (I’d personally add Amiya and newcomer Clove Garden of India to that list).
Hulu’s Wireless opens at 296 Newark Avenue
Smartphone accessories shop Hulu’s Wireless recently opened at 296 Newark Avenue in the space formerly occupied by Jen’s Hair Studio. (They’re steps away from the old FM venue). Hulu’s Wiress specializes in unique/imported cellphone cases, screen protectors, tablet cases, and more.
Choc-o-Pain now open from 7am to 3pm
French bakery Choc-o-Pain is expanding the hours of its Jersey Avenue location. The bakery will be open from 7am to 3pm on weekdays. Plus, they are offering delivery via Postmates (they ask that you order from their website).
Jackson Hill Jazz Pop-Up on Thursdays
Mark your calendars: the next five Thursdays there will be a free jazz concert at Jackson Hill. The Jackson Hill Pop-Up series will run from 3:30pm till 5:30pm and include: Winard Harper Trio (9/24), David Whitfield Trio (10/1), Bryan Beninghove Trio (10/8), Tim Hegarty Trio (10/15), and the Jeremy Beck Trio (10/22).
Outdoor dining area on Grove will become permanent
Restaurants throughout Jersey City have installed parklets and mini pedestrian plazas to help them recover from the COVID-19 lockdown. Now it appears some of those parklets and plazas will become permanent.
