Liberty State Park to get new spaces for recreation

Approximately 61 acres of new active recreation space are coming to Liberty State Park, according to Hudson Reporter. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is planning for a multi-million-dollar environmental restoration and remediation of the park’s contaminated interior. As part of the plan, 50 acres in the park’s southwestern interior will be dedicated as active recreation space. Meanwhile, three parcels of land outside the interior — totaling 11 acres — will also be active recreation space. But don’t get your hopes up yet. It could take two years before the state puts the project up for public bidding and construction begins.
