Harborside Pedestrian PlazaThere’s a new pedestrian plaza along the Jersey City waterfront. As part of the massive Harborside JC overhaul, Mack-Cali has closed north-bound traffic on Hudson Street from Columbus Drive to Bay Street. The strip is now a dedicated pedestrian plaza for events, markets, and every recreation. (The south-bound lane is still open to traffic).

Over the past few weeks, the plaza, aka Hudson Green, has been outfitted with tables, bar stools, and street games. The seating areas can be used for events such as the Smorgasburg Jersey City food market, which is being held across the street at the Urby parking lot every Saturday through October.

Portions of Hudson Green will also be used for events like the JC Local Market (Tuesdays from 3pm to 7pm) and outdoor yoga with Asana Soul Practice (Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm).

There’s even space for public art, as New York-based studio Hou de Sousa has moved its Ziggy sculpture from New York’s Flatiron district to outside the Harborside Atrium.
