What you need to know for Tuesday, April 7:

1: Jersey City Councilman Michael Yun passed away from his battle with COVID-19. Per Mayor Steven Fulop: “Michael lived in the Heights since 1981 after coming to the United States in 1979. After moving here, he and his wife opened their business on Central Ave in 1982. A few years later, he was a founding member of Jersey City’s first special improvement district.” He is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Seong Hee Ahn), children, and grandchildren.

2: Jersey City now has 1,671 confirmed COVID-19 cases (up from 1,411) and 47 deaths (up from 38). Although there was a small decline in new positive cases reported over the weekend — Monday, April 6 saw 260 new cases — the highest number of new cases the city has reported since the outbreak started. —COVID-19 JC Stats

3: New Jersey currently has 41,090 positive COVID-19 cases (up from 37,505) with 1,003 deaths (up from 917). —NJ Dept. of Health

4: Governor Murphy announced that New Jersey will be given access to some of the beds on the USNS Comfort. The Comfort is docked in New York City and will accept COVID-19 patients. However, a crew member aboard the ship has tested positive for COVID-19. —ABC7

  • Jersey City has two coronavirus testing facilities open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm.
  • You must call (201) 547-5535 to make an appointment.
  • A walk-up center is located at the JC Fire Headquarters at 465 Marin Boulevard.
  • A drive-thru testing facility is located at 575 Route 440.
  • Grocery store workers and health care workers will be tested first.
