Jersey City is losing an institution at the end of the month. The owners of Liberty Park Diner have announced they will permanently close the business as of September 30.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of our beloved Liberty Park Diner,” reads the Instagram post. “We are absolutely heartbroken to be closing after 20 years of servicing the Jersey City community. From our family to yours we want to thank everyone for your love and support. Our last day will be on the 30th.”

Located at 14 Burma Road, Liberty Park Diner is regarded by many as Jersey City’s best diner. It’s known for its generous portions, friendly staff, and affordable prices — especially when compared to other diners in downtown.

Unfortunately, Liberty Park Diner joins a long list of small businesses in Jersey City that haven’t survived the pandemic. Although NJ indoor dining was reinstated at the start of the month, many restaurants haven’t been able to overcome the effects of being on lockdown for such a long period of time.

Liberty Park Diner’s last day of service will be Wednesday, September 30.
