The team behind Ghost Truck Kitchen wants to bring the city’s takeout and delivery options to a whole new level.

“We’re a modern, neighborhood takeout joint bringing restaurant quality food into people’s homes,” says owner Andrew Martino.

A New Jersey native, Martino is using his experience in the hospitality industry and his love of food trucks as inspiration for Ghost Truck Kitchen. Together with general manager Jason Booth, the duo are changing the concept of takeout in Jersey City.

The ordering process is dead simple. Place your order from their website (you can schedule it for any time you desire) and when your order is ready for pick up, you’ll receive a text message alert.

Currently, Ghost Truck Kitchen has eight different menus that offer everything from Buns & Bowls to pulled pork sandwiches. There’s even a vegan-only menu.

“My fiance and my sister are both vegetarians, so that’s always been ingrained in me to offer vegan options,” says Martino.

What sets Ghost Truck Kitchen apart from other eateries is their technology and focus on fresh, sustainable ingredients.

“We’re an order-ahead restaurant,” says Martino. “We’re not fast casual. There’s nothing in common between us and Chipotle, B.Good, or Cava. We make everything from scratch the minute we get your order.”

“Your takeout order is our first priority. That’s all we do, that’s all we focus on.”

The emphasis on made-from-scratch applies to the entire menu, from the marinades used on their proteins to the sauces used in their sandwiches.

Our meats are also hormone- and antibiotic-free, says Martino. We spend multiple days prepping them because we’re smoking and making things from scratch.

Ghost Truck Kitchen will soft open for pick up only this Thursday, March 21 through Sunday, March 24 from 5pm to 10pm. (They’ll be open Wednesday through Sunday the week after that).

Starting April 20, Ghost Truck Kitchen will add a delivery option. However, the restaurant will offer a robust loyalty program for diners who opt to pick up their food.

We’ll give out a free treat when people pick up their orders, says Martino. It can be anything from a cookie to a side of mac & cheese.

Ghost Truck Kitchen will also offer lunch and breakfast options along with catering for parties and events.

“Your takeout order is our first priority. That’s all we do, that’s all we focus on,” says Martino.
