Piggyback NYC

Roughly 3.5 months after closing Piggyback Bar Jersey City, chef Leah Cohen and husband/partner Ben Byruch are now debuting their latest venture — Piggyback NYC.

Located at 140 West 30th Street, Piggyback NYC is a completely new restaurant with a brand new menu. Whereas Cohen’s Lower East Side hit Pig & Khao focuses on Southeast Asian eats, Piggyback NYC specializes in pan-Asian bar food inspired from the duo’s years of traveling through Asia.

The new menu includes dishes like Shrimp Toast Okonomiyaki (brioche bread topped with shrimp mousse), Cha Cá Lã Vong (rice noodles topped with pan-seared cod marinated in turmeric), and Lumpia Shanghai (pork and beef spring rolls with a sweet chili sauce).

Piggyback NYC’s interior is designed entirely by Byruch. It offers a 70s feel with vintage movie posters and old ads from Thailand and the Philippines. The venue has a more cohesive aesthetic than their Jersey City location ever did. Likewise, the menu seems more adventurous.

The restaurant is open seven days a week from 5pm. It’s located on 30th street just off 7th avenue and not too far from the 33rd street PATH station. You can follow Piggyback NYC on Instagram for the latest updates and news. You can also check out their menu here (PDF).
