Eira Cafe now serving Portuguese pastries, lunch, and coffee

Portuguese cafe opens on Mercer

0

Eira CafeHot on the heels of Tamborim, chef and restaurateur Michael Casalinho has opened Eira Cafe at 24 Mercer Street (in the former Kraverie spot).

Eira is sister site to neighboring Broa, which is still in the process of moving to 301 Grove. However, Eira is a different concept. Whereas Broa is a full restaurant with dinner service and a seasonal menu, Eira is a laid back, old-fashioned cafe focusing on breakfast, brunch, and lunch. (There will be no daily dinner service at Eira, although the cafe will soon offer a supper club).

In terms of food, you’ll find items like Bolas de Berlim Mini (above), a Portuguese donut with a cured egg yolk filling and topped with a dusting of sugar. There are also plenty of sandwich options, breads, coffee, and more.
