After a year of renovations, Riverview Park is once again open to the public. The park, which closed back in February of 2020, underwent a $2.1 million makeover. As part of its renovation, Riverview Park is now home to 89 new trees, a bocce ball court, new light fixtures, and an extended recreational area for kids.

However, the park’s main new attraction is a multi-purpose plaza with a central water fountain. A circular pathway was also paved to make it easier to navigate the Riverview Farmers’ Market.

“The Jersey City Parks Coalition is pleased to see the completion of the renovation in Riverview-Fisk Park,” said Roger Heitmann, Board Member of the Jersey City Parks Coalition. “Five years of focused discussions and planning involving the City, as well as community outreach through the Riverview Neighborhood Association, yielded a park ready for the 21st century with new infrastructure and park features.”

To complement the park’s views of the New York skyline, city officials also restored several historical monuments, including a sculptural bust of Henry Hudson (dedicated to the park in 1917), a cast bronze eagle sculpture, and a Theodore Conrad dedication plaque.

Outside of the cosmetic upgrades, the park also received new foundations, water lines, drainage lines, stormwater absorption, and a new water service line comprised of meters, backflow preventers, ground hydrants, and an irrigation system.
