Located at 561 Palisade Avenue, Sure Things is a glorious mix of fintage (found and vintage) home goods and decor. The locally owned boutique initially started as an Instagram shop in the summer of 2020 and rapidly expanded with pop-ups at popular spots like Frankie, Downtowner, and Another Man’s Treasure. This past summer, Sure Things was also a staple at Bergen-Lafayette’s outdoor market, Pacific Flea.

Owners and long-time Heights residents Marinell Montales and John T. Trigonis are avid vintage and thrift shoppers, so when the chance to open a brick-and-mortar on Palisade Avenue arose, the couple seized the opportunity.

“What you’ll see in our space reflects who John and I are and what we are interested in,” says Montales, who was also founder of Jersey City print and design magazine EIGHTY. “The things we have for sale are things we would buy and have in our own home.”

In addition to vintage finds, Sure Things also doubles as a used book shop. Both Montales and Trigonis are passionate about used books and regularly seek out used book shops.

“The book sale at Grace Church was our go-to spot in Jersey City for used books, but since the pandemic hit, it hasn’t started back up again, so we felt that a used book shop was something that the city would benefit from,” says Montales.

Sure Things is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12pm to 6pm and on weekends from 11am to 6pm. You can follow the shop @SureThingsFintage.
