Popular Mexican restaurant Tacoria is opening its first outpost in Jersey City this winter.

The New Brunswick-based restaurant specializes in Mexican street food offering a mix of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and more.

Tacoria will open in the former home of Burger Eatery at 238 First Street (opposite Torico’s). Signage went up last week and the windows have been covered up, but a quick peek inside reveals there’s still work to be done on the interior of the space.

Tacoria’s menu (PDF) is pretty simple: Choose your dish, your protein, and pick some sides. All dishes — like tacos, burritos, and quesadillas — can be prepared with chicken, grilled steak, or al pastor.

Many of Tacoria’s food options are gluten free and there are multiple vegan options where you can substitute your meat with rajas (roasted corn and poblano peppers), fried avocado, or charred Brussels sprouts in chiptole sauce.

Tacoria currently has locations in New Brunwick, Montclair, and Princeton. Morristown and Jersey City are the chain’s newest outposts. Both new locations are expected to open in winter of 2019.
