Dry-aged strip steak meets grilled octopus at Terra e Mare — a new steak and seafood restaurant inside Hudson House. Part of the Landmark Hospitality network of restaurants, Terra e Mare Jersey City features Italian-inspired cuisine by executive chef David Felton.

Located at 2 Chapel Avenue in Port Liberte, the restaurant — which translates to “land and sea” in Italian — offers panoramic views of New York, Brooklyn, and downtown Jersey City. Designed by Landmark Designs, the restaurant features a dedicated bar/lounge area, spacious dining room, and open kitchen. Diners entering the restaurant are welcomed by a dry aging room complete with hanging prime cuts and a two-tiered live lobster and shellfish tank.

The sprawling dining room is home to a raw bar serving a variety of West/East Coast oysters, ceviche, snow crab, and whole lobster. The latter can be prepared grilled with carrot chili butter, steamed, or wood roasted with salsa verde.

Inside Terra e Mare — Felton is offering premium cuts of protein alongside fresh/local seafood. Formerly of Ninety Acres in Peapack-Gladstone, NJ, Felton is known for working with local and sustainable food sources. Prior to Ninety Acres, Felton also helped oversee the opening of the kitchen at The Biltmore Room in NYC, which went on to receive a 3-star rating from The New York Times.

At Terra e Mare — Felton is treating diners to entrees such as dry-aged strip steaks, grilled tuna loin, and lamb leg steak. Drawing inspiration from Italy, the menu will also feature bolognese made with dry-aged meat gravy as well as lobster bucatini. While the restaurant does focus on surf and turf, there will be a few vegetarian friendly dishes like a vegan Sardinian paella and a celery root steak with white bean puree, grilled broccolini, and maitake mushrooms.

Meanwhile, pastry chef Kathryn Alberalla will offer a wide range of sweets including a lemon panna cotta made with olive oil cake and pistachios as well as a fig crostada made with mascarpone cream, honey ice cream, and balsamic.
