Reclining LibertySummer is officially here and there are lots of events happening in Jersey City this weekend. From a bike ride along the Hudson River to an artist pop-up at Froth on Franklin — here are the best local events to kick off your weekend.

Thursday Events

What: Movies in the Park at Leonard Gordon Park
When: Thursday, June 23 at sunset
Where: Leonard Gordon Park
Movies in the Park Jersey City returns tonight with a free screening of Disney’s Encanto. The movie starts at sunset (around 7:30pm).

What: The Brooklyners at Fox & Crow
When: Thursday, June 23 from 8pm to 10:30pm
Where: 594 Palisade Avenue
Reggae band The Brooklyners will perform at Fox & Crow tonight. Admission is $10/pp. Proof of vaccination will be required.

What: Bruce Williams Quintet at The Statuary
When: Thursday, June 23 from 6pm to 10pm
Where: 53 Congress Street
Alto saxophone artists Bruce Williams and his all-star rhythm section will perform at The Statuary tonight. Doors open at 6pm and the music starts at 7pm. A suggested music donation of $25 is appreciated. All music donations go toward artist fees for this and future events.

Movies in the Park Jersey City returns tonight with a free screening of The Secret Life of Pets 2. The movie starts at sunset (around 7:30pm).

What: Movies on the Pier by Exchange Place Alliance
When: Friday, June 24 at sunset
Where: J. Owen Grundy Park
The Exchange Place Alliance is hosting another night of Movies on the Pier. This Friday you’ll be able to catch a free screening of Disney Pixar’s Finding Nemo. The movie starts at sunset (around 7:30pm). Food and drink will be available for purchase.

What: Light Up The Loop Bike Ride
When: Friday, June 24 from 7:30pm to 10pm
Where: Grove Plaza
Join Bike JC for an evening bike ride along both sides of the Hudson. The casual bike ride will meet at the Paulus Hook NY Waterway Ferry Terminal heading to Brookfield Place/World Financial Center. Once there, cyclists will ride north to the NY Waterway ferry terminal at 39th St, take the ferry back to Weehawken, and ride down the Hudson River Walkway toward Jersey City.

What: Zeppelin Hall Schnitzel Fest
When: through July 10
Where: 88 Liberty View Drive
Schnitzel Fest is back at Zeppelin Hall. Through Sunday, July 10, you can order from 12 different schnitzel entrees.

Saturday Events

What: How Far Can You Walk: 5K Walkathon at LSP
When: Saturday, June 25 from 7:30am
Where: 30 Audrey Zapp Drive
This walkathon aims to raise awareness about the growing water crisis in sub-Saharan Africa and raise funds to reconstruct 250 broken water wells in countries such as Chad, Nigeria, and Cameroon. Registration begins at 7:30am and the walk itself starts at 8:30am. Donations are encouraged and start from $15/pp.

What: Pop-Up at Brett Triangle Park
When: Saturday, June 25 from 11am to 3pm
Where: 848 Pavonia at Tonelle Avenue
Start the weekend off at the Journal Square Pop-Up Party at Brett Triangle Park. The pop-up will include free yoga (11:30am and 1pm), live music, food trucks, and more.

What: Smorgasburg Jersey City
When: Saturday, June 25 from 11am to 6pm
Where: Harborside Plaza & Hudson Street (behind Smorgasbar)
Smorgasburg is back at Harborside for another season of eats. The outdoor market will offer food from numerous vendors including Cake Jars, Carlitos Barbecue Taqueria, and more. The market will operate every Saturday. Admission is free and there will be various outdoor dining options throughout Harborside JC.

What: Dog Day After June at Barrow Mansion
When: Saturday, June 25 from 1pm to 4pm
Where: 83 Wayne
Dog Day After June is an afternoon dedicated to dogs and their paw-rents. Meet local vendors, browse merch, and sit in during K9dergarten’s talk on “What is my dog telling me.” Plus, meet adoptable dogs from local rescue, See Spot Rescued.

What: Froth on Franklin Pop-Up

Where: 85 Franklin Street
Heights coffee shop Froth on Franklin will host an artist pop-up on Sunday. The shop will host Plants by Mykel, who will be showcasing his made-to-order hand-painted terra cotta pots.

When: Sunday, June 26 at 8am
Where: 667 Montgomery Street
Join Jersey City gym Four Fitness every Sunday at 8am for free J.City Sunday runs. The group will run from Four Fitness (667 Montgomery) to Exchange Place. Experiences and newbie runners are equally welcome.

What: Philippine-American Friendship Community Parade
When: Sunday, June 26 at 10am
Where: Lincoln Park
The 32nd annual Philippine-American Friendship Community Parade kicks off today at Lincoln Park. The parade starts at 11:30am marching from West Side Avenue to Claremont Avenue. Entertainment is planned from 10am through 6pm at Lincoln Park.
