Friday Events

What: Berry Lane Skate Park Now Open
Where: 1000 Garfield Avenue
Berry Lane Skate Park is officially open. The 12,000 square foot park — built specifically for skateboarders — is the largest of its kind in Jersey City. The Skate Park is the final phase of Berry Lane Park’s transformation from a once toxic site to a public park for all JC residents. Construction of the skate park was funded in part by the Tony Hawk Foundation.

What: Latham House | Emma’s Restaurant Week Specials
When: through August 16
Where: 299 Marin Blvd + 4 JSQ Plaza
Hudson Restaurant Week has been canceled. However, Latham House and sister restaurant Emma’s are hosting their own Restaurant Week through August 16. Get three courses at either restaurant for just $40. You can check out the Latham House menu here or Emma’s menu here. (Note: You can’t go wrong with either the gnocchi or short ribs!)

What: New Dessert Menu at Jersey Social
Where: 837 Jersey Avenue
Jersey Social just released its new dessert menu, created by Junoon pastry chef Gustavo Tzoc. It includes sweets like the Beignet Tower (we highly recommend this dish), the Oat Milk Panna Cotta, and various cordials/dessert wines.

Saturday Events

What: Yoga at Canco Park
When: Saturday, August 8 from 9am to 10pm
Where: 70 Dey Street
Kick off your weekend with an hour of outdoor yoga led by Jessica Strickler. The 1-hour class is free and open to all levels. Masks are required and you must bring your own mat.

What: West Side Avenue Community Clean Up
When: Saturday, August 8 from 11am
Where: West Side Avenue (Light Rail Station)
Solidarity JC is leading a clean up of West Side Avenue from the Light Rail stop to Lincoln Park. Masks and gloves will be provided. Plus, volunteers will receive a meal at the end of the cleanup.

What: Drag Queen Story Hour at Word
When: Saturday, August 8 from 11am to 12pm
Where: Word Bookstore at 123 Newark Avenue
Drag Queen Story Hour is all about promoting positive LGBTQ role models for kids and adults. Jersey City’s Harmonica Sunbeam will read, entertain, and lead participants in song during this official Jersey City LGBT Pride event.

What: LGBTQ+ Independent Film Screening
When: Saturday, August 8 from 5pm to 8pm
Where: Facebook Live
Hudson Pride Center and the Golden Doors International Film Festival are teaming up to present a night of LGBTQ+ Independent Short Films. Viewers will explore a variety of indie films centered around the LGBTQ+ community. RSVP required for the Facebook Live event.

When: Saturday, August 8 + Sunday, August 9
Where: 90 Hudson Street
Sweetgreen Jersey City is finally here and giving you a free salad before their grand opening. You’ll need to download the Sweetgreen app and RSVP for a time slot (they’re selling out fast) to receive a $15 credit you can use for a free salad this weekend.

What: Free Yoga at Lincoln Park
When: Sunday, August 9 from 10:30am to 11:30am
Where: Lincoln Park
The West Side Community Alliance and Jessica Namit are teaming up to offer a free hour of yoga in the park. BYO mat, towel, and props. (Don’t forget your mask!)
